Ubiquiti: How Ubiquiti quotes TCP/IP Speeds
Posted on Thursday, February 04 @ 01:34:46 CST by rclark

Ubiquiti Ubiquiti™ products perform very well with bi-directional, multiple data streams.

For some high-speed "M" series Ubiquiti™ products, throughput speeds quoted by Ubiquiti in the specifications are aggregate, bi-directional, multi-stream rates. Typical speed tests are done as follows:
  • 4 x TCP/IP data streams from node [A] to Node [B]
  • 4 x TCP/IP data streams from node [B] to Node [A]
  • Sum the total throughput over all 8 data streams
For example, where you see the a product like the RocketM5 as having a Real TCP/IP Throughput of 150+ Mbps, it means the sum of the [A] to [B], and the [B] to [A] throughput is 150 Mbps.

Tests by Freenet Antennas of Ubiquiti "M" series products with 2 x 300 Mbps connect speeds show these results.

Note: At the higher throughputs our test setup may have been limited by the CPU & ethernet interface capacity of the two test computers.
